Subtle
Power: Intro to Bandhas
Establishing support from the internal action of
the bandhas is elusive in its subtlety and potent in its
power. A more subtle action than many realize, the bandhas
act in the same way as the locks in a canal; they manage
the flow of energy. In this class we will explore ways to
experience the bandhas and feel how they can bring valuable
core support to asana.

Please join me in welcoming
Baxter Bell back to Boston for this special weekend
workshop focusing on health and wellbeing via Yoga.
Designed for students of all ages and also those in
training to teach, we will look at how yoga supports
a healthy spine, good digestion and well functioning
immune and endocrine systems. Sessions will present
basic background information, looking at normal function,
and also common problems. Through experiential practices,
we’ll start to embody and more clearly understand
these diverse yet interconnected systems of our body.
As always happens when Baxter leads a workshop here,
we will have lots of fun doing it!
Friday, March 23: 6-8 pm
Experience the Body, Understand
the Body
In this introductory session, we will start
to get an overview of the spine, digestive system, and
the immune/endocrine systems via experiential yoga practices
and discussion. This will lead us into the following
sessions over the weekend.
Saturday, March 24: 11 am – 3 pm
Part One: The
Spine, Lower Back Problems and Yoga
In part one of our
session, we’ll look at the unique structure and
function of the human spine, explore how things can
go awry, and apply yoga asana, pranayama and meditation
practices to improve function.
Part Two: Yoga for Healthy Digestion
We’ll shift
gears for the second half of the class and look at common
imbalances in digestion and yoga practices to positively
influence and improve digestion.
Sunday, March 25: 11 am – 3 pm
Immunity, Hormonal
Balance and Yoga
We’ll try to distill this vast
and complex system into manageable concepts and look
at the most beneficial practices to keep it humming
along as we work to gracefully grow and mature.

of her luxurious and intelligent slow flow vinyasa style. Barbara
has a way of creating a meditative experience that allows
students to dive deep inside and find the confident teacher
within. With nearly 40 years teaching yoga
she has the gift of talking students into poses with impeccable
technique and insight into refinements in their own practice.
"...as
I watched you keep an eye on everyone in the crowded room,
adapting poses for some, making suggestions to others
and giving brilliant instruction throughout I knew I was
watching a master. I was honored to be in the class. Thank
you." -Patricia |
